Korean Perilla (Perilla frutescens) is an aromatic herb from East Asia, known by names like shiso, beefsteak plant, and sesame leaves used in cooking, traditional medicine, and as an ornamental plant. It’s a member of the mint family with square stems, and its green leaves have a unique minty, basil-like flavor, making them popular in sushi, kimchi, and as wraps. These leaves can be found on dining tables from Korea.
