Black Nightshade grows wider than it is tall. It kind of sprawls. The leaves are toothed/jagged around the edge. It gets small five petaled white flowers that develop into green berries and then they turn dark blue black when ripe. DO NOT EAT THE GREEN SEED BERRIES. Potatoes and Nightshade are in the same family. This is why you will see green on potatoes occasionally. Do not eat the bitter green on potatoes nor the green nightshade berries as they contain solanine (as scientists say it’s poisonous, but they also used to say that about elderberries and today elderberries are a big thing!) Nightshade will reseed and birds will eat the berries also. Press seeds onto moist soil and keep moist and in light until they germinate, usually 10-14 days or sprinkle them out doors in Fall or early spring where you want your nightshade to grow.

All transplants are only available for local pick-up — shipping is not offered.
